As Germany's largest independent financial advisory service, Deutsche Vermögensberatung (DVAG) supports around 18,000 financial advisors across more than 5,200 directorates and offices, serving approximately 8 million customers across industries on topics such as insurance, retirement planning, and wealth accumulation. With the introduction of a new marketing portal, financial advisors should be able to order personalized advertising materials, marketing documents, and digital assets like reels or social media templates directly in the future. The prerequisite for this was the daily automated provision of consistent financial advisor master data, including portrait photos, certifications, and locations.

To feed this data into the portal with high quality, DVAG required reliable middleware that orchestrates, validates, and prepares information from various source systems for the portal. Cyber-Solutions developed a scalable solution for this purpose, which synchronizes automatically on a daily basis and completely eliminates the need for manual imports.

Challenge: Consistent Personalization Data for Thousands of Financial Advisors

The marketing portal of DVAG was intended to generate personalized advertising materials – from printed documents to digital social media assets. For this, numerous master data had to be reliably available: name, office location, certifications, sales company, addresses, and above all, the current portrait photos of the financial advisors. Before the project, this information was stored in various systems, sometimes with different structures and quality levels. Manual exports would have been neither scalable nor error-free.

The middleware developed by Cyber-Solutions unites all relevant data sources in a consistent process. It accesses the financial advisor data via the master data interface and combines it with image material from the DVAG Media Library. All data is validated, harmonized, and then transferred to the marketing portal. Complex reconciliations ensure that only complete and consistent data is processed. One example is the validation of portrait photos using hash values. This reliably detects whether an image has changed and if a resynchronization is necessary.

Automated daily synchronization instead of manual processes

The middleware operates with a daily delta synchronization. This means that only changed data records are processed, which significantly increases performance and stability. This automated process completely replaces the previously necessary manual imports and exports.

To reliably manage the highly fluctuating synchronization workload, the application was operated in a scalable Azure environment. The cloud infrastructure automatically adjusts to the actual data volume and ensures that even large data updates are processed efficiently.

Quality assurance & impactful results

A central quality objective of DVAG was to ensure clean financial advisor data. The middleware therefore performs comprehensive validation mechanisms, including:

  • - Validation of individual master data fields

  • - Structural and format checks

  • - Hash-based photo analysis

  • - Detection of unusual or contradictory data records

This prevents faulty data from entering the marketing portal in the first place.

With the new middleware, daily updated and validated financial advisor data is available in the DVAG marketing portal. The digital provision reduces sources of error, accelerates data processing, and significantly minimizes manual efforts. In addition, the quality of the provided marketing personalizations improves, as faulty or outdated data no longer enters the system.
