In the course of continuous growth and increasing internationalization, CICMP faced the challenge of future-proofing its existing IT landscape. The aim of the project was to create a scalable ERP basis and to technologically revamp the web shop in order to automate processes, centrally control data, and sustainably strengthen digital sales.

ERP implementation

The core of the project was the introduction of Microsoft Business Central as the central ERP system. This maps all business-critical processes and acts as the leading data source for product information, prices, customer structures, and authorizations. At the same time, a new website including a web shop was developed based on Umbraco 10 and closely integrated with the ERP system.

Interfaces & Sales

The technical solution relies on deep integration between ERP and the web shop via high-performance REST interfaces. Customer and product-related data is retrieved from Business Central in real time and displayed in the web shop in a context-dependent manner. This has enabled the web shop to evolve from a pure ordering platform into an integrated sales system that also digitally maps complex use cases such as the configuration of hydraulic lines.

performance

A key focus was on performance, stability, and scalability. The platform is designed for high availability and uses memory-efficient caching mechanisms to deliver ERP data with high performance. Media content is automatically managed in Azure Blob Storage, while product searches are based on Examine and deliver fast results even with large amounts of data. Different customer and authorization models enable targeted addressing of various B2B customer groups.
